Free Boys’ Basketball Clinic for Boys’ in Grades 4-8

May 21, 2025

The Huntington boys’ basketball program will be holding a free clinic for district students enrolled in grades 4-8 at the high school gym on Wednesday, May 28 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Blue Devil players and coaches will be on the scene, including varsity head coach Peter Lipka to personally work with students participating in the clinic.

There will be a review of basketball skills, fun drills and live scrimmaging. Coach Lipka’s assistants, Patrick Reilly and Joe Crocco will also work with clinic participants.

Coach Lipka is entering his fourth year with the Blue Devils. He played four years at Farmingdale State College and led the nation in three-point shooting percentage as a sophomore. He went on to coach for a decade at the US Merchant Marine Academy and CW Post. He works in Queens as a physical education teacher.

The Huntington coaches will specifically work with clinic participants on dribbling/ball handling, passing, shooting and defending skills. There will be fun drills and games as well as time set aside for some scrimmaging.

Boys of all levels of ability are welcome to attend the clinic. Those seventh and eighth graders who played last winter on the two Finley Middle School boys’ teams are especially encouraged to participate as are any Finley students who didn’t play on the school team but who are interested.

Clinic participants should come dressed and ready to play. Contact Coach Lipka at lipkap11@gmail.com for more information.
