May 16, 2025
The Huntington High School Chamber Choir impressed the judges at the NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) Majors at Hauppauge High School.
The vocalists performed Level V NYSSMA repertoire for adjudicators and were provided with both congratulations and feedback. They received a silver rating.
The Huntington choir is under the direction of high school music teacher Charles Colasanti. It is comprised of exquisitely talented and accomplished performers and performs both in concert and at special events. Many of the members are also in the drama club.
“The NYSSMA Majors is a festival where school ensembles, like bands, orchestras, and choruses, perform for a panel of adjudicators, according to the organization. “These festivals are for music teachers to showcase their exceptional ensembles, which are assessed on their performance of music from the NYSSMA manual. Ensembles receive a rating and written comments from the adjudicators.”
“I am extremely proud of how hard these students have worked to achieve this honor,” Mr. Colasanti said. “My first year as the choral director at Huntington High School has been absolutely wonderful thanks to opportunities for my students like this.”
