Three Triple Winners for Blue Devil Boys’ Track

The Huntington High School varsity boys’ track and field team swept past Smithtown West in its final regular season meet, 83-50. Seniors Carlos Marroquin and Jordan Thorbourne and junior Titan Elysee each won three events as the Blue Devils coasted.

Marroquin won long jump with a leap of 21-02 feet and triple jump with a distance of 39-10 feet. He later ran the third leg of the winning 4x100m relay.
Thorbourne won the 100m dash in 11.6 seconds and the 200m dash in 23.4 seconds and he ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay, which crossed the finish line in first place.
Elysee won the 110m high hurdles in 15.8 seconds and the 400m intermediate hurdles in 60.1 seconds and he ran third leg on the winning 4x400m relay team.
Winning individual events were sophomore Eric Heinz in the 800m dash, senior Dominic Mattio in the 400m dash, junior Matt Ross in the shot put and junior Jean Riboul in discus.
Ronald E. Wilson is Huntington’s head coach with Eli Acosta and Haidee Ganz-Bonhurst serving as assistant coaches.
The Suffolk boys’ track pentathlon will be contested at Northport on May 24. The county track and field championships will be held at Commack on May 27. The state qualifier is set for Comsewogue on June 5-6. The state championships will be held June 13-14 at Middletown High School.
