K-Factor Electrifies Huntington High School Auditorium

Huntington High School’s incredibly talented performing artists put on an unbelievable show at this year’s K-Factor last Friday night. As the crowd steadily strolled into the big auditorium the excitement grew and the atmosphere remained electric throughout the hours long event.

Act 1 included performances by Mia Molina, Isaiah Bynum, Hanna Boyle & Karina Rodriguez, Sam Soric, United Amigos, Luca DiPietro, Nica DiPietro, Naomi Lyons & Lily Wasoski, A’Shai Vessup, Alexandra Boeckmann, Mr. [Grixon] Moreira, Richard Davis Jr. Michael Mendikyan, Lexi Haas, Mia Molina & DeAndre Simmons, Liva Camarata and a Tribute Number.
Act 2 featured Robotics, Josie Sullivan & Company, Avery Joynt, Arly Moreira Portillo, Huntington Highsteppers, Kiana Alfaro-Hernandez, Richard Bello & Bryan Mendoza, Emily Kustera, Liva & Caleigh Camarata, DeAndre Simmons, Nahomy Villanueva Vasquez, Sara Persampire, Isis Jimenez & Hennie England and a Senior Act.
Sophomore A’Shai Vessup captured first place on the judge’s ballots for her amazing act on enormous stilts. Senior Kiana Alfaro-Hernandez accompanied by Richard Bello and Bryan Mendoza garnered second place. The Audience’s Choice Award went to senior Josie Sullivan & Company.
“K-Factor went really well,” Ms. Sullivan said. “I feel like this year the show had some of the best acts it’s seen. It was an amazing way to close out four years being a part of the show and I think we had a great turnout. It’s so nice to see the community show up to support such a good cause.”

English teacher and high school drama club faculty advisor Michael Schwendemann was the show’s host with an assist from art teacher Jenna Merget and the Huntington Blue Devil Broadcast team.
The show benefits young people fighting cancer at Stony Brook University Hospital. This year, the show specifically raised monies for Nevaeh-Skye Delgado, a 14-year-old girl being treated for leukemia.
Huntington Superintendent Beth McCoy was on hand along with several Huntington School Board members and high school administrators. The auditorium lobby was filled with raffles, special apparel and various goods for sale, refreshments and an assortment of related fundraising items, etc.
