Huntington Class of 2025 valedictorian Isabella Careccia-Johnson.

“Throughout my high school career, I have found success through a combination of hard work, determination and the support of friends,” Ms. Careccia-Johnson said. “I am surrounded by incredibly brilliant and kind teachers and peers, many of whom have offered guidance during these past four years. Having the opportunity to collaborate with others has elevated my thinking and has created an environment conducive to intellectual growth.”

The Huntington senior was accompanied by her parents, Liz and Aaron, Principal Rochelle Brown, Superintendent Beth McCoy and Angela Berner, a favorite elementary school teacher.

Ms. Careccia-Johnson plans to attend Northwestern University. “Due to the support of our high school community, I have truly thrived as a student,” she said. “My favorite aspect of Huntington High School is our diverse range of activities, sports and courses. I have been able to balance my academic courseload with creative outlets and career-oriented extracurriculars.”

The senior said some of the more “creative opportunities for my personal growth” stemmed from classes in Latin, African-American Studies and ceramics.

Editor in chief of Huntington’s student newspaper, The Dispatch, an integral member of the mock trial team that won Suffolk twice and advanced to the state finals and treasurer of the Latin Honor Society and secretary of the Art Honor Society, Ms. Careccia-Johnson played on the Blue Devil varsity golf team.

“I am so honored to be named the Class of 2025 valedictorian,” Ms. Careccia-Johnson said.
