Robert Wottawa Appointed Director of Fine & Performing Arts

Robert J. Wottawa II, Ed.D. has been appointed to serve as Huntington UFSD’s district director of fine and performing arts, effective July 14, 2025.

Dr. Wottawa obtained a Bachelor of Arts in music education degree at Franklin Pierce College in 2000 and a master’s degree in music education at Long Island University/CW Post College College in 2005. He earned a doctorate at LIU Post in 2016. He studied for his administrative license at Stony Brook University.

Dr. Wottawa was employed as the director of art and music in the East Islip School District from July 2015 until his appointment in Huntington. He previously worked as a band, chorus and general music teacher in Longwood for ten years. He chaired Longwood’s department of art, family and consumer science and music for four years. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Long Island University in Brookville and Westchester and Five Towns College in Dix Hills.

“Throughout my career, I have prioritized mentoring and relationships by building and developing programs that support both students and new teachers while fostering environments rooted in care, empathy and collaboration,” Dr. Wottawa said.

A member of the Suffolk County Music Educators Assn. and the New York State School Music Assn., Dr. Wattowa has served as president of the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education.
