The Huntington High School varsity girls’ indoor track and field team is starting to pick up its pace with a good showing at the Nassau Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex at Staten Island last Saturday.

Highlights for Huntington included:

• Hanna Boyle turned in a personal best time of 1:51.30 in the 600m run. The sophomore also had a PR relay split in the 4 x 400m relay.

• Amiyah Herring (8th grade) and Helena Sullivan (freshman) had outstanding performances in the 300m, running 44.89 and 47.36, respectively. Herring took home a fifth place medal for her time.

• Norah Moskowitz is now ranked second in Section XI in the 600m after earning a medal for fourth place overall in a time of 1:43.01. “She had a very strong finish after being boxed in on the second lap,” head coach Dennis Scruggs said.

• The 4 x 400m relay is now ranked third in Section XI after placing fifth overall at the Nassau Invitational in a time of 4:24.18. The Blue Devils competitively ran all four legs with Norah Moskowitz (first leg), Amiyah Herring (second leg), Hanna Boyle (third leg) and Jamyn Husselbeck anchoring.

• Anis Oyuela had an outstanding day, placing third and continuing a very consistent season—throwing 29-plus feet in all three meets so far.

• The Frosh/Soph 4 x 200m relay ran a season-best time of 2:11.55. Lauren Lewis led off, handing to Lizmarie White, then to Helena Sullivan, who had an excellent leg before passing to anchor Vivian Morrissey.
