Jefferson Primary School students and teachers had fun observing College & Career Day around the building. Students arrived dressed in the garb of their dream professions, while staff showcased their pride by wearing college shirts and displaying signs from their alma maters.

“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Jefferson parents, guardians, and friends who volunteered to present in our UPK through grade three classrooms,” Jefferson Principal Valerie Capitulo-Saide said.

Careers highlighted included doctors, nurse practitioners, water engineers, project managers, Citi Field engineers, massage therapists, firefighters, martial arts instructors, actors, lawyers, conductors, researchers, and many more.

“We are truly grateful for the thoughtful, engaging presentations shared with our students, and we hope the day inspired the next generation of future leaders and professionals,” Ms. Capitulo-Saide said.

“Career Day gives students an up-close look at different career paths and connects their learning to the real world,” according to the Explore Learning website. “Community members and leaders come into the classroom to share insights about their career and details about necessary education and training for career success. Meanwhile, students get the opportunity to listen to presenters, ask questions, and consider what careers pique their interest. Hosting an elementary career day nurtures early career exploration, helping students begin to imagine their future and understand the steps they can take as they progress through school to get there. It’s a powerful way to show students that their education has real-world relevance and that their dreams are within reach.”
