Palermo & James Capture County Volleyball Honors

Huntington High School’s reinstated varsity boys’ volleyball team is celebrating seniors Caleb Palermo and Spencer James, who received county awards at the Suffolk Boys’ Volleyball Coaches Assn. dinner at Villa Lombardi in Holbrook.

Palermo was named to the All Division team after a fabulous season that including 217 kills, 48 blocks, 35 aces and 157 digs. “Caleb was the captain of team and incredible role to all his teammates,”

James was tapped for All-Academic honors. His stat line included 35 kills, 47 aces, 243 digs and two blocks. His weighted average in the first marking period this past fall was 100.97.

“It was a great honor and privilege to coach these two fine young men,” Huntington head coach Eric Mininni said. “They will be sorely missed next season but they have a bright future ahead of them.  I am just glad they were able to have at least one season of varsity volleyball in their high school career.”

Mininni said the team will regroup in the offseason. Expected to return next year are Louis Chavez, Dennis McCook, Giovanny Saravia, Henry Schmid, Jeremiah Dasque DeLeon, Danny Paiz, Gabe McManus, Luca Fiore, TJ McDiamrid and Steven Lapp. The team will also rely on incoming freshmen from Finley’s team.
