Superintendent Beth McCoy’s energy and positive frame of mind is infectious as 4,100 enthusiastic Huntington UFSD students are ready to start classes on Tuesday, September 2.
Facilities staff members are continuing last minute preparations throughout the Labor Day weekend, but everything appears to be on schedule for a smooth opening.
“As we prepare to welcome our students back to school, I’m filled with excitement, anticipation, and deep gratitude for the opportunity to begin another incredible year together, wrote Mrs. McCoy in a message to the school community through the Parent Square platform. “As we gear up for what promises to be a fantastic year of learning and growth, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude and enthusiasm for the journey ahead.”
All eight schools within Huntington UFSD are fully staffed and well equipped for students. Supplies have been arriving daily for the past eight weeks and boxes have been delivered to teacher’s classrooms.
“Our staff has been hard at work this summer to ensure a smooth and successful start to the school year,” Mrs. McCoy said. “From revitalizing our buildings and grounds to analyzing student data, preparing engaging classrooms and participating in meaningful professional development, every effort has been made to create an environment where students can thrive from day one. We have also welcomed new educators to our team, each of whom brings fresh ideas and a shared commitment to the success and well-being of every child.”
Huntington UFSD’s administrative corps is also refreshed and ready for the new school year, with new faces in several positions.
“Our leadership team recently came together for two days of administrative workshops, where we focused on enhancing instruction, strengthening school safety and aligning our systems to support students and staff from the first bell to the last,” Mrs. McCoy said. “The energy and collaboration during these sessions reaffirmed our shared belief: that when we work together, we are truly unstoppable.”
Huntington UFSD traces its heritage to February 11, 1657, when the community came together to hire the first public school teacher, who set up a schoolhouse in the area of today’s Village Green.
“Thank you for your continued partnership and trust,” Mrs. McCoy wrote. “Let’s make this a year filled with growth, kindness, and endless possibilities. We can’t wait to see our students’ smiling faces and witness all they will accomplish in the year ahead.”
