Blue Devil Unified Bowling Enjoys Breakout Season
August 27, 2025
Huntington High School’s varsity Unified co-ed bowling team reached new heights as a program as the 30 player squad notched a 6-2 record under head coach Lauren Blackburn.
The highlight of the season came when Sebastian Romero hit a turkey on his 10th frame to seal the win over John H. Glenn. Huntington topped Half Hollow Hills (5-4 and 6-3), Smithtown (5-4), John H. Glenn (6-3), Northport (6-3) and Walt Whitman (6-3). The Blue Devils fell to Commack (8-1) and Harborfields (5-4).
“This is by far the greatest team I have ever coached,” Blackburn said. “Everyone is always supporting one another, giving high fives and cheering each other on. All of the bowlers are so kind to one another and work hard at each practice and match. Almost every single bowler increased their personal records during the season, all while developing meaningful friendships.”
Every team member improved their scores over the course of the season, including Ella Ackerman, Julianna Ackerman, Hailey Collins, Luca DiPietro, Nica DiPietro, Connor DiBennedetto, Abigail Gerberg, Andrew Guandique, Talia Hayden, Sophie Hoffman, Hannah Kaufman, Manpreet Kaur, Gabriella LoScalzo, Elliot Manu, Daniel McClellan, Dennis McCook, Dylan McKean, Alexander Morris, Isabella Morris, Lelia O’Toole, Ella Palatnek, Tyler Peck, Sebastian Romero, Roodes Similien, Avante Williams-Samuel, Lily Buschemi, Nallely Linares, Casey Myers, Daniella Petrone and Emma Marsala.
Most of the team will be returning, with the notable exception of Isabella Morris, who graduated this past June. “She has been on the team since its inception,” Blackburn said. “She will be truly missed.”
Huntington hopes to continue growing its varsity Unified co-ed bowling team. Students who are interested in the sport should seek or Blackburn or send her a message to lblackburn@hufsd.edu.
