Spectacular Seniors Win World Language Awards

A spectacular group of 21 Huntington High School Class of 2025 members were honored for their mastery of French, Italian, Latin and Spanish with special recognition at the annual senior departmental awards ceremony in the auditorium.
Several teachers joined Judy Goris-Moroff, Huntington UFSD’s director of world languages, English as a new language and bilingual programs for the awards presentation.
French Award honorees were presented stipends ranging from $100 to $300 each. The award recipients included Ada E. Cruz-Gutierrez (Nassau Community College), Sofia A. Gomez Calderon (Hofstra University), Kevin Maldonado-Molina (Hofstra University), Laurie E. Moise (Suffolk Community College), Mia Molina-Baptista (SUNY College at Geneseo) and Erline F. Pharius (Suffolk Community College).
Italian Award winners were presented stipends ranging from $100 to $550 each. They included Angelina F. Marcelino-LaQua (New York Institute of Technology), Michael B. Mendikyan (New York University), Samuel L. Soric (Boston University) and Gabriela Y. Vilorio (TBD).
Latin Award honorees Isabella Careccia-Johnson (Northwestern University) and Emily R. Kustera (Indiana University-Bloomington) received stipends of $250 each.
Spanish Award recipients included Ashley D. Alay (Hofstra University), Gabriela A. Amaya (Hofstra University), Charlotte R. Curtin (University of Michigan), Amalia R. Heinz (Binghamton University), Iverson D. Menjivar Quintanilla (University of Tampa), Anthony A. Retamal Vidal (Cornell University), Juan Martin Rodriguez Sandoval (Suffolk Community College), Myah H. Urena (Adelphi University) and Brianna L. Velasquez Vasquez (Nassau Community College). Each of the honorees received a stipend of $450.
