She just completed a great lacrosse season, but Huntington High School junior Emma Greenhill is already looking forward to next spring.
The teenager shined for the Blue Devils, tallying 34 goals and 12 assists. She found the back of the net four times in Huntington’s 10-9 playoff loss to Riverhead.
After winning just three games during her sophomore season, Ms. Greenhill saw the Blue Devils notch nine victories this spring. “I think this season was definitely all about growth for us as individuals and as a team,” she said. “I’m pretty content with how I played throughout the season and definitely really happy with how the team did. We really came together and showed other teams that we are contenders in our division and to not look past us.”

While Huntington is graduating many seniors from its starting lineup, Ms. Greenhill is confident the Blue Devils will field a competitive team in 2018.
“As for next season, I think we are really going to miss our graduating senior class,” Ms. Greenhill said. “They make a huge impact on the field, including Ryann Gaffney controlling the midfield, Camille Stafford, Noelle Harvey and Tara Wilson being vital as a low defenders, Emma Petrizzi being a voice of reason on the field and Ally Arleo for being so caring and having everyone’s back on their good and bad days. But with that said, I think the girls we have on the team for next year are still going to push through and work harder to surpass what we achieved this season! If we all put in the effort, I think we could make it really far.”
The summer will see Ms. Greenhill playing lacrosse with Team Elevate. “I’m at tournaments almost every weekend, but during my downtime I hope to hang out with friends and relax,” she said.
Ms. Greenhill’s senior year schedule isn’t finalized just yet, but she plans to enroll in Advanced Placement Government and Politics, AP Economics and possibly AP Environmental Science along with other core courses.
“I hope to be involved in more clubs, too,” the teenager said. “In the fall, I’m also going to try back out for soccer. I had to take a pause due to an injury and I’m so excited to play again. I’m really looking forward to the next school year!”
