Alexandra Berwick and Skylar Heffernan are dynamic young people. The two Huntington High School Class of 2016 members won the New York State Attorney General’s Triple “C” Award in recognition of their courage, character and commitment.
Ms. Berwick and Mr. Heffernan were honored during this year’s senior academic awards ceremony in the Huntington High School auditorium. School counselor Lauren Brunoni made the award presentation on behalf of Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman before an audience that included hundreds of students and parents.

Alexandra Berwick
President of Huntington High School’s student government during the 2015/16 school year, Ms. Berwick will be attending Wagner College in Staten Island where she plans to study in the physician assistant program. She held GO leadership positions for many years.
A member of the National Honor Society, Ms. Berwick said the key to her success has been getting involved in her school and community. She learned to be personable and balanced and developed leadership abilities. She built many close and rewarding relationships with Huntington’s teachers and club advisors as well as with her classmates.
Ms. Berwick is proud to be a recipient of the Triple “C” Award. “I was super proud to think that someone thought I deserved it,” she said. “Little did I know what I was getting at the ceremony and now I wouldn’t want anything else. It hangs high and proud in my house now.
The teenager has been babysitting over the summer and playing soccer at the high school with “some great old and new friends,” she said.
“At Wagner I plan on getting involved in student governemnt and working hard in the physician assistant program,” Ms. Berwick said.

Mr. Heffernan said the “recipe” for his success has been relaxing, staying true to himself and embracing his unique qualities. President of the high school’s Gay-Straight Alliance during the 2015/16 school year, the teenager is a mental health and LGBT advocate.
A member of the Blue Devil marching band, Mr. Hefferman possesses many talents. He enjoyed pursuing challenging coursework and formed a close bond with AP Biology teacher Deborah Beck.
