NY Sportswriters Tap Heather Forster as All-State

Heather Forster has been named to the All-State girls’ basketball team by the New York State Sportswriters Association. The Huntington High School senior is headed to the University at Albany on a basketball scholarship.

Forster was earlier named the Suffolk League IV Player of the Year along with First Team Long Island, All-County and All-League honors. The 6’2 teenager averaged 13.4 points, 15 rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks per game.

A five-time All-League and two-time All-County player, Forster shattered the 1,000 point plateau this past winter. She also captured Academic All-County recognition.

“I am very proud of Heather for receiving this award,” said Mike Kaplan, head coach of the Huntington girls’ basketball team. “She has worked extremely hard throughout the years and has dedicated a great deal of time to mastering her craft. She was an outstanding captain and teammate. She was always there for her teammates when they needed her. Her leadership skills go beyond the basketball court. We are happy for her and can’t wait to see her continue her career at Albany.”

Forster has earned stellar grades throughout her time in the Huntington School District. The teenager has completed a long list of Advanced Placement courses over the past four years and will graduate as one of the top members of the Class of 2015.

In addition to basketball, Forster has starred on the Blue Devil volleyball and lacrosse teams. She’s been involved in a variety of extracurricular clubs, honor societies and school activities and is surrounded by a loyal group of friends.
