After helping to spur a renaissance for the Huntington High School golf program, four Blue Devil seniors have been recognized with special awards by head coach Michael Marinello.

Justin LoTurco (Most Valuable), Christopher Bergman (Most Improved), Christopher Glowacky (Most Improved) and Thomas Waldron (Coaches Award) were all honored during the 47th annual Blue Devil senior athletic awards banquet in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium.

The four seniors played key roles on the team as Huntington made a run at the Suffolk championship before falling just short of the title this past spring.

Mr. LoTurco is headed to Duke University in the fall. Mr. Bergman will be attending Coastal Carolina University. Mr. Glowacky will be pursuing studies at Villanova University. Mr. Waldron plans to attend High Point University.

H-ton Girls’ Cross Country Seniors Honored

Blue Devil cross country runners Suzie Petryk, Sara Stewart and Kiara Roman have been honored with special awards by head coach Debra Cheskes. The trio graduated this past June with Huntington’s Class of 2015.

Ms. Petryk was named team MVP and Ms. Stewart was tapped as Most Improved. Ms. Roman captured the Coaches Award. The teenagers were recognized during the 47th annual Blue Devil senior athletic awards banquet in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium.

Ms. Petryk is headed to Cornell University in the fall while Ms. Stewart will attend SUNY Cortland. Ms. Roman will pursue studies at Buffalo State.

H-ton Girls’ Volleyball Seniors Recognized

Four graduating members of the Huntington High School girls’ volleyball team were honored during the 47th annual Blue Devil senior athletic awards banquet in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium.

Marygrace Trousdell was named Most Valuable while Marissa Acton and Heather Forster were recognized as Most Improved. Hayley Petrizzi earned the Coaches Award for her efforts during the season.

Blue Devil coaches Natalee Schaeffer and Maria Canino presented the seniors with their awards before a crowd of about 300.

Ms. Trousdell is headed to the University of Rhode Island to study either biology or math. Ms. Acton will be attending Loyola University Maryland in the fall. Ms. Forster has been recruited to play NCAA Division I basketball and study advertising and business at the University at Albany. Ms. Petrizzi intends to study early childhood education at Towson University.

Blue Devils Honor Boys’ Volleyball Seniors

Huntington High School boys’ volleyball coach Christopher Mooney recognized three graduating seniors with special awards during the 47th annual Blue Devil senior athletic awards banquet in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium.

Shyheim Brewster (Most Valuable), Peter Magerle (Most Improved) and Brendan Dwyer (Coaches Award) were all honored and praised for their significant contributions to the program.

Mr. Brewster is headed to Suffolk County Community College in the fall. Mr. Magerle will be attending Ohio State University. Mr. Dwyer will study at SUNY College at Old Westbury.

Special Awards Presented to HHS Girls’ Soccer Duo

They never failed to give their best effort when they took the field for the Blue Devils. Samantha Lynch and Lindsay Sullivan were the recipients of special awards presented by Huntington varsity girls’ soccer head coach John Walsh and assistant coach Vinny Tannazzo during the 47th annual Blue Devil senior athletic awards banquet in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium.

Ms. Lynch was named Most Valuable while Ms. Sullivan garnered the Most Improved Award. Mr. Walsh spoke about each of the superb athletes and what they meant to the team during brief remarks at the dinner. The talented duo helped carry the Blue Devils into Section XI post-season play last fall.

Ms. Lynch is headed to the University of Notre Dame later this month. Ms. Sullivan will be attending the University at Albany.
