Tim Mattiace Nominated for
All-America Game

Tim Mattiace has been nominated to play in the 10th annual Under Armour All-America Senior Showcase. The Huntington High School lacrosse star hopes to be among the 22 players picked to wear the North team’s uniform in the game, which is scheduled for July 3 at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University.

Last fall Mattiace signed an NCAA Division I national letter of intent to play lacrosse at Binghamton University on a scholarship. Former Huntington teammate Ben Kocis is currently starting for the Bearcats as a freshman.

The Huntington great is excited about reaching the doorstep of the All-America Senior Showcase. “It’s a great feeling after playing all this years,” Mattiace said. “The fact that I am playing with the best players in the country is just incredible.”

Mattiace has been an exceptional lacrosse player for Huntington. He won the Suffolk Rookie of the Year Award as a freshman. The teenager has gone on to capture Suffolk All-Division and All County honors twice, been named to the Suffolk rising sophomore and junior teams and the Brine USA team twice. He is a two-time Brine All-American regional team member.

The Huntington senior intends to study in Binghamton’s School of Management. Mattiace is interested in finance and accounting. His current academic schedule includes AP Environmental Science, Pre-Calculus, Participation in Government, Holocaust Literature, Spanish Honors 5 and a credit bearing career internship with Director Georgia Deren McCarthy in the office of health, physical education and interscholastic athletics.

Mattiace said it has always been a goal of his to play college lacrosse. He’s been suiting up since he’s six years old. He was also a wonderful football player for the Blue Devils over the past four years.

The proud owner of a 95 academic average, Mattiace said he became interested in a business career while working at Lacrosse Unlimited. He’s had the job for many years and has been trained in every aspect associated with operating the store. He has even attended new product seminars.

Mattiace is currently concentrating on helping to lead the Huntington lacrosse team. He hopes his senior year culminates with a post-season run.
