District Introduces Elementary
Parent Portal

A new parent portal is being introduced to Huntington School District elementary grade level parents. It’s an attempt to enhance communication between the district and parents with children attending primary and intermediate schools. The district previously introduced a secondary grade level portal for parents.

“This new feature will allow you to securely access current information regarding your child’s attendance, schedule and assessment reports,” explained district data coordinator Nancy Allard in a letter to elementary parents. This year, parent reports for students who took the New York State assessments in English language arts, math and/or science (grades four and eight) will be posted to the portal instead of being mailed home. It is our hope that this information will allow you to become even more informed about your child’s education.”

District officials are stressing that the parent portal is a “user friendly” program. “For families that have more than one child attending the school district, creating an account for one child will allow you to access all your children,” Mrs. Allard said. “Access to Huntington’s parent portal is restricted by a secure log-in, password and student identification number.”

Parents can access the parent portal by visiting the school district website at www.hufsd.edu. Go to the Quick Click Bar drop down menu and choose Parent Portal. To establish an account, parents will need to submit the student’s name, current grade, school attending and ID number.

Parents can obtain more information about the parent portal by reviewing a presentation found on the district website. To access the presentation click on this address or copy and paste it into a browser: http://www.hufsd.edu/assets/pdfs/schools/parent_portal_presentation.pdf. The presentation can also be accessed by visiting www.hufsd.edu and clicking on the tab for Our Schools and then scrolling down the page to Huntington School News. A hot link for the presentation can be found there.

“When families work collaboratively with school personnel, there is significant benefit for students,” Mrs. Allard wrote to parents. “It is our hope that this information is useful to you and helps you to monitor your child’s academic progress.”

Questions about the elementary parent portal can be directed to Mrs. Allard at nallard@hufsd.edu.
