Huntington High-Style
Magazine Published

Huntington High School has one of the best fashion programs in the country and now it has its own fashion magazine, too. Huntington High-Style is packed with 16 pages of photos and designs, interviews, profiles, reports and "must have" lists.

The magazine was created by Huntington senior Marissa Goldstein, who is participating in a credit-bearing internship with art/fashion teacher Amy Worth.

The fashion program continues to fly high and Huntington High-Style magazine showcases many top students and their work. "It was the perfect way to top off a successful year," Ms. Goldstein said. "The fashion program keeps getting better and better and it's only right that we proudly promote it."

The magazine includes articles on 2011 spring and summer "must haves,", a review of the year's top fashion trends, "exclusive" interviews with dynamic fashion students Richard Gray, Allie Wieland and Sabina Schneider, a fashion spotlight on Emily Feldman, dozens of colorful designs and much more.

"There have been magazines put together in past years, but I wanted to take it to the next level and show Huntington how much the fashion program has grown and how talented we are," Ms. Goldstein said. "As an intern, I am basically free to do what I please. Since I am studying the business of fashion in college, Ms. Worth thought it only appropriate that I get a jumpstart on my future, so I immersed myself into this magazine for the past few months."

Ms. Goldstein is headed to the University of Delaware where she plans to study fashion merchandising. One of the reasons she developed Huntington High-Style was to "leave behind with you a forever lasting memory of all that my fellow fashionistas and I have accomplished," Ms. Goldstein said.

In a "fashion spotlight," senior Emily Feldman discusses her sense of style, the influences on how she dresses, how her mood affects her daily fashion choices, her favorite designer (Marc Jacobs) and her favorite place to shop (Urban Outfitters).

The magazine contains dozens of fashion drawings from sophomores, juniors and seniors. "Among all of the beautiful drawings and designs in the Fashion I, II and III classes, I selected all that could fit," Ms. Goldstein said. "I tried my best to recognize everyone's meticulous work, especially Richard Gray, Sabina Schneider and Allie Wieland, who have put their heart and soul into the fashion program and are continuing their fashion design career paths at the Fashion Institute of Technology in the fall, where I have no doubt they will succeed."

The magazine has a section on "red carpet glam" and fascinating articles on top seniors in the fashion program. "Besides recognizing the students, I wanted to add a little fun, which is why I included a trend report and a page on some upcoming trends," Ms. Goldstein said. "It's always interesting to see how fashion progresses."

Huntington High-Style also features photos of select pieces from the Richard Gray Collection. The fashions were modeled by Diana Frank and the photos were snapped by Eva Prior.

"What we do in our fashion classes is just as special as what we see in well-known fashion magazines, if not more beautiful and admirable, because of the passion we all have," Ms. Goldstein said. "I wanted to put together a memory. It was a tedious and time-consuming project but worth it in the end. I hope people have as much fun reading the magazine as I did putting it together."
