Cat Ruggiero, a member of Huntington High School's Class of 2007, will graduate from Union College in a few weeks. The school is on a trimester schedule.
Ruggiero was an All-County goalie for the Blue Devil girls' lacrosse team. She enjoyed a nice career at Union College, winning All-American honors last year. Knee issues kept her off the field this spring.
Ruggiero majored in biology at Union. She plans on taking graduate courses at Stony Brook University next year and then applying to dental school. Her father, Salvatore is one of the top oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the world.
Dever Fits Right In
Jack Dever made a seamless transition from high school to college lacrosse. A member of Huntington High School's Class of 2010, Dever played in all 13 Rollins College games this spring, scoring 15 goals and adding seven assists. He was fourth on the team in goals scored and tied for third in points with 22.
The 5'10 Dever wears uniform No. 1 and plays attack for Rollins, which is located in Winter Park, Florida. He took 53 shots this spring, including 33 on goal. He also scooped up 19 ground balls.
Dever enjoyed a superb senior season with Huntington, scoring 29 goals and assisting on 11 others. He had nine goals and seven assists as a junior and quickly developed into one of the top players on the team. He won three varsity letters with the Blue Devils.
The former Huntington star's father, David Dever played lacrosse at Lynchburg College. Dever is majoring in international business at Rollins.
Rollins College was founded in 1885. It has a combined undergraduate and graduate enrollment of about 3,100. The Rollins men's lacrosse team competes in NCAA Division II – Deep South Conference.
Schoen Scores at Haverford
Nick Schoen proved he can play college lacrosse. A member of Huntington High School's Class of 2010, Schoen was a star for Haverford College this spring, tallying 18 goals and one assist. He took 27 shots, including 24 on goal and picked up seven ground balls.
Haverford finished the year with an 11-4 mark and was ranked 12th in NCAA Division II. The 5'7, 150 lb. Schoen played in all 15 games, starting 13 of them.
Haverford is located in Pennsylvania. The school has a total enrollment of 1,190. 98 percent of the student body lives on campus, along with 50 percent of the faculty.
Matte at Stony Brook
Matte Scully scored three goals for the Stony Brook University women's lacrosse team this spring. The 2009 Huntington High School graduate is a business major at the school. Stony Brook finished with a 4-11 record.
The 5'7 Scully scored twice this spring in an 18-6 win over Manhattan College and also scored against Iona College, where her older sister Casey is a star player.
As a Blue Devil, Scully played on the soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams. At Huntington she was the senior class president and junior class treasurer and was voted "most athletic senior" by her classmates.
Scully's mother, Carol played soccer at Penn State and her father, Mike was an All-Ivy League linebacker at Cornell.
Ryan Greenhill Report
Ryan Greenhill, a member of Huntington High School's Class of 2010, played in 14 games for the Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team this spring. He notched one goal and two assists and picked up two ground balls for Lynchburg, which finished with a 13-6 mark.
As a Huntington senior, Greenhill scored 11 goals and added 18 assists. He was a three year starter for the Blue Devils. His father, Tom Greenhill played ice hockey and rugby at C.W. Post College.
Greenhill took 12 shots this spring for Lynchburg, which is located in Virginia. An outstanding student, he is majoring in athletic training and carrying a minor in sports medicine.
Lynchburg reached the finals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference this spring, losing to Roanoke, 12-10.
Bilzi at Hamilton
Kevin Bilzi played in nine games at midfield this spring for the Hamilton College men's lacrosse team. The Huntington High School Class of 2009 member took six shots and picked up a ground ball. He wears uniform No. 1 for the Continentals, who play in the Liberty League and finished the recent season with an 11-3 record.
Located in Clinton in Central New York, Hamilton boasts an enrollment of 1,812. The College competes in NCAA Division III.
