Kevin Pimentel is sure going to be something special. The eighth grader is playing on Huntington High School’s varsity baseball team and quickly earning admirers. Pimentel threw a no-hitter and struck out nine in a 7-0 victory over Comsewogue on the Warriors’ home field.

 

The Blue Devils took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when junior Matt Curley smacked a run scoring double. Huntington broke the game open with a six-run seventh inning to give Pimentel breathing room.

 

Senior Jesse Sheridan blasted two doubles and drove in a pair of runs. The victory gave Huntington a sweep of Comsewogue.

Brown Notches Four Points

It happened again. The Huntington girls’ lacrosse team held a halftime lead before letting it slide away in the second frame and losing the game. This time the Blue Devils bolted to an 8-6 advantage at Sayville only to be outscored in the second half, 11-3. The 17-11 loss was difficult to accept.

 

Huntington received goals from Michaela Brown (3g, 1a), Sarah Ehrman (3g), Emilie Pugliese (2g), Emma Hayes-Hurley (1g, 2a), Danielle Catanese (1g, 2a) and Hannah Burnett (1g). Allison Thompson, Alexandra Kimchy and Sarah Casey added assists. Samantha Mohr recorded eight saves in the Blue Devil goal.

Magerle Knocks in Three

The Huntington girls’ softball team traveled to Harborfields and beat the Tornadoes, 7-1 behind the strong performance of pitcher Samantha Jacoby who surrendered six hits and fanned five.

 

Sophomore Casey Magerle collected three hits and two RBIs and junior Amber Kavanagh drove in another.

Second Half Trouble

The Huntington boys’ lacrosse team battled host Hauppauge to a 3-3 first half tie before The Eagles outscored the Blue Devils in the second frame, 6-1 to win the game, 9-4.

 

Nick Schoen, Jack Casetelli, Ryan Greenhill and Will Coffey scored for Huntington. Castelli and Coffey added assists. Andrew Sheerin made seven saves in goal.

Saputo Scores Four Goals

Nick Saputo scored four goals and added an assist to help lead the Huntington boys’ lacrosse team over visiting Deer Park, 16-6. The Blue Devils erupted for 11 first half goals en route to a solid victory.

 

Ryan Greenhill, Pat O’Brien and Will Coffey scored two goals apiece for Huntington. Paul Aramanda, Dan Plant, Connor Knox, Jack Dever, Duncan Murchison and Jack Castelli also notched goals. Nick Schoen picked up two assists. Ryan Mulligan, Dever, Castelli and Murchison also earned assists.

 

Goalies Andrew Sheerin and John McGrath combined to make nine saves for Huntington.

McCarty Wins on Hill

Vincent McCarty was brilliant in hurling the Huntington baseball team to a 6-2 win over Comsewogue. The junior struck out two, yielded six hits and walked no one en route to a complete game victory. McCarty also belted out three hits, drove in two runs and scored twice. Junior James Oliva also went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored.

Curley Gets Key Hit

The Huntington baseball team nipped Comsewogue, 8-7 as junior James Oliva picked up the victory. The Blue Devils came from behind with some timely hitting and strategic plays.

 

Trailing 5-3, senior Dan Smith executed a squeeze play that scored junior Vincent McCarty. Junior Matt Curley later stroked a two-run single to give the Blue Devils a 6-5 lead, which they never surrendered.

Tough Second Frame

The high-octane Shoreham-Wading River girls’ lacrosse team outscored Huntington in the second half, 13-5 to win a spirited game at Blue Devil Stadium, 19-8.

 

Huntington rallied from a 6-3 halftime deficit to knot the score at 8-8 before the roof caved in. The Blue Devils were led by Michaela Brown’s four goals. Sarah Ehrman (2g, 1a), Emilie Pugliese (1g, 1a), Emma Hayes-Hurley (1g) and Allison Thompson (2a) also picked up points.

Scoring Explosion

Jack Dever led a scoring parade with six goals as the Huntington boys’ lacrosse team stormed past Greenport/Southold/Mattituck, 15-2 on the East End of Long Island.

 

Dever, who added an assist, helped the Blue Devils build an insurmountable 11-1 halftime lead. Dan Plant (2g, 1a), Matt Whitney (2g), Mike Marchetta (1g), Duncan Murchison (1g), Ryan Greenhill (1g, 2a), Nicholas Schoen (2a), Pat O’Brien (1g) and Will Coffey (1a) also figured in the day’s offense.

 

Huntington’s goalies Andrew Sheerin (six saves) and John McGrath (seven saves) were tops, too.
