Johnson Keeps Getting Better
Tyriek Johnson is a multi-faceted athlete. Ron Wilson certainly couldn’t do without the All-County performer. “Johnson did an outstanding job this past spring season, improving every time he stepped out onto the track,” said Wilson, head coach of Huntington High School’s winter and spring boys’ track and field teams.
Johnson excels in numerous events. “He is arguably the best all-around athlete here in Huntington,” Wilson said. The dynamo went undefeated in dual meets in the 110m high hurdles and his best time of 14.56 seconds is just .56 seconds shy of the 28-year old school record set by Paul Scudieri in 1982.
Johnson shattered a seven year old meet record at the John Glenn Invitational in the 110m high hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.7. He also ran the third leg of the Blue Devils’ 4 x 400m relay and has been a top long-jumper since joining the varsity program.
