Finley’s Chloe Wheeler Sings on TV
in Contest

She has millions of votes and for good reason; Chloe Wheeler is a great singer and performer. The J. Taylor Finley Middle School seventh grader is a contestant on Telemundo television’s “La Voz Kids.”

The show’s name translates in English to “The Voice Kids.” The program “gives viewers the opportunity to witness how the stars of the future are discovered and developed by featuring three stages of the singing competition, including the blind auditions, battle rounds and rinal phase,” according to Telemundo’s website. “During the blind auditions, the coaches’ decisions are based solely on voice and not on looks. Once the teams are set, the battle rounds begin and the coaches will dedicate themselves to developing their teams. New this season, the battle rounds will include a wild card component, where the audience will have the opportunity to save one of their favorite contestants per coach.”

Ms. Wheeler loves to sing and act. She is singing in Spanish on La Voz Kids to honor the memory of her grandmother and her Mexican roots.

“Chloe is a bright and mature student,” Finley Principal John Amato said about the 13 year old. “She also has a great talent and I am so glad she has been able to show everyone that talent. We wish her all the luck in the world. Finley is rooting for her.”

The three teams of singers are led by coaches Daddy Yankee, Natalia Jimenez and Pedro Fernandez, with Ms. Wheeler singing on the latter. The ultimate winner selected by the viewing audience will received a recording contract from Universal Music and a grand prize in the amount of $50,000. The winner’s family will be awarded a 2016 Nissan Rogue.

Following the blind audition all three judges turned their chairs and fought over her, wanting her for their team. The Finley seventh grader chose Mr. Fernandez as her coach.

Each of the three teams in the competition is comprised of “amazingly talented kids from cities across the United States and Puerto Rico, representing numerous Latin American countries and an array of music genres,” according to Telemundo.
