Infinite Tucker Signs UMass Amherst Letter of Intent

Infinite Tucker has decided that the University of Massachusetts Amherst is the place for him. The Huntington High School senior has signed an NCAA Division I letter of intent. He plans to play college football and run track.

Tucker rushed 70 times for 885 yards and 13 touchdowns this past fall for the Blue Devil football team. He also caught 16 passes for 386 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively the teenager recorded 98 solo tackles, 14 tackles for a loss and three quarterback sacks.

The teenager has been even better on the track, excelling in everything from various hurdles events to the 400m and 600m runs and different relays to the long jump. “Infinite is immensely talented,” said Ron Wilson, who has coached the teenager in both football and track. “He can do it all.”

Tucker said he chose UMass Amherst for the “education” it offers. “It’s the place for me,” he said. The senior visited the college a few days before he signed the national letter of intent. He had an opportunity to tour the facilities and speak with a variety of staff and student athletes.

Blue Devil coaches Steve Muller and Todd Jamison and Director of Athletics Georgia D. McCarthy attended the signing in the athletic office at the Huntington High School. Tucker’s mother, Ceida Allen was also on hand and smiled as her son signed his name to the documents.

Tucker holds numerous Huntington track indoor and outdoor records and is one of the top high school stars in the country. He is well known throughout metropolitan New York and national track circles.

“Infinite was impressed with the academic support system that UMass has in place,” Wilson said. “He understands the importance of doing well in school and has his priorities in the proper order.”

Muller and Jamison fielded inquiries from colleges across the country who were interested in the Blue Devil gridiron star. Several Big 12 schools expressed interest in him as either a football player or for their respective track team.

“UMass Amherst, the Commonwealth’s flagship campus, is a nationally ranked public research university offering a full range of undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees,” states the organization’s website. Located in Amherst, Massachusetts, it sits on nearly 1,450-acres in the scenic Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, 90 miles from Boston and 175 miles from New York City. The campus provides a rich cultural environment in a rural setting close to major urban centers.”

The university enrolled 22,748 undergraduates and 6,521 graduate students last fall for a total enrollment of 29,269. The school has 111 bachelor, six associate, 75 master and 47 doctoral degree programs in nine schools and colleges. There are about 250,000 living alumni across the world. The college supports 21 NCAA Division I athletic teams.
