New Social Worker Joins District Faculty
A new social worker has joined the Huntington School District’s faculty ranks. Robelis “Betty” Reynoso was appointed by Huntington School Board members this past Monday night. She will be assigned to J. Taylor Finley Middle School.
Ms. Reynoso earned an associate’s degree in psychology at Nassau Community College in 1992 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at SUNY Stony Brook in 1995. She obtained a Master of Social Work degree at Stony Brook in 2004 and studied for her state administrative certification at Long Island University in 2005.
Prior to coming to Huntington, Ms. Reynoso worked as a teacher assistant and community liaison in the Southampton School District from 2000-2011 and as a social worker in Southampton from 2011-2014. She was employed as a social worker by the Manhasset School District last year.
Huntington officials reviewed 35 resumes, pre-screened 15 candidates and extensively interviewed four applicants prior to recommending Ms. Reynoso for appointment.
Ms. Reynoso hold permanent state school social worker and school district administrator certificates as well as a teaching assistant continuing certificate. She is eligible for tenure on September 22, 2018.

Huntington School Board members also approved the following personnel actions during their public meeting this past Monday night:
• Approved resignations submitted by Flower Hill School teacher aide Janet Sloan, senior account clerk Frances Lewandowski, senior clerk typist Ruth Peretz, Huntington High School nurse Carol Hund and Director of Facilities Alvin W. White.
• Approved salary schedule changes for teachers Erika Brignati, Kimberly Finneran, Nicole Hiscox, Chelsea Jablon, Miriam Gonzalez-Engle, Melissa Mazzalonga, Natalee Schaeffer, Jennifer Stucchio and Ashley Williams.
• Appointed Lauren Meagher as a nurse. She has been assigned to Washington School.
• Appointed Christina Plant as a teacher assistant. She has been assigned to Washington School.
• Approved Julie Gaughan and Gail Lennon to work as 6.5 hour teacher aides at Flower Hill School.
• Appointed Cynthia Bader as a 4.5 hour food service worker. She will work at Woodhull School.
• Approved a leave of absence for Jefferson School physical education teacher Natalee Schaeffer.
• Appointed Kayla Boyle as a long term substitute speech therapist assigned to Jefferson School.
• Approved an increase in Elizabeth Vogelsang’s physical education teaching assignment from .6 to .7 for the 2015/16 school year.
• Appointed Georgia D. McCarthy as the district’s driver education coordinator for 2015/16.
• Appointed Camille Tedeschi and Dianna Molenko as after school educators in the Huntington High School library for up to two days per week for 2015/16.
• Appointed Donna Moro as the elementary science coordinator for 2015/16. The $4,000 stipend is fund through a school improvement grant.
