Huntington’s 154th Commencement Exercises on Friday Night
Huntington High School’s Class of 2015 will be led into Blue Devil Stadium by a Veterans of Foreign Wars honor guard on Friday at 6:00 p.m. for the school’s 154th commencement exercises. A crowd of more than 2,000 is expected to attend.
The ceremony will include traditional addresses by valedictorian Caitlin Knowles and salutatorian Joseph Saginaw along with Principal Carmela Leonardi, Superintendent James W. Polansky and Huntington School Board President Emily Rogan.
Several seniors will take leading roles in the event. Kyle Meit will serve as master of ceremonies. Charles Beers, Jessica Tucker, Olivia Castillo, Kaitlin Dayton, Lenni Joya-Amaya will introduce various classmates and officials prior to their addresses.
Class of 2015 faculty advisor Patricia Dillon will announce the names of the graduates as they make their way to the stage. Huntington School Board members will present the seniors with their diplomas.
Class of 2015 President Elizabeth Corrao will announce the presentation of a gift to the high school early in the commencement program.
John Manaker, Christopher Sorensen and Eric Vallecillo will carry the school banner into Blue Devil Stadium with members of the senior class following in two lines. The Huntington High School orchestra under the direction of Nicole Castaldo will perform processional and recessional selections along with the alma mater.
Huntington chamber choir seniors will perform Francis Scott Key’s Star Spangled Banner, which will be followed by the transferring of colors by Ms. Corrao, Hailey Giordano, Holly LoTurco and Daniel Mollitor.
In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will move indoors to the cavernous high school auditorium.
