Consider Contribution for H-ton’s Snowshoe Olympian Gear

Huntington High School’s snowshoe Special Olympians are warriors. The Blue Devil team has proved to be formidable in competitions across the state. Now it needs help from others its run.

The snowshoes worn by the Special Olympians cost $99 per pair. Fundraising is currently underway to purchase shoes for the Blue Devil team members. One time donations of any amount are welcome.

Coached by Linda Roth, Huntington’s snowshoe Special Olympians turned in strong back-to-back seasons in 2013 and 2014. Are more medals on the horizon this winter?

The Blue Devils get creative when there isn’t any snow on the ground for their training sessions. Mrs. Roth has been known to hold practices at Centerport Beach and use the sand to simulate snow conditions.

“We have some really excited and hardworking athletes this year,” Mrs. Roth said. “The team always appreciates the love and support it receives from the Huntington community.”
