New Guidance Counselors Join Huntington Faculty
Two new guidance counselors were appointed by the Huntington School Board during the last public meeting of the trustees on Monday, August 3.
Diana Bonilla has been hired to work at Huntington High School while Denise Caiazzo will serve at J. Taylor Finley Middle School. The appointments are effective September 1. State law requires the duo to successfully complete a four year probationary period before being eligible for tenure on September 1, 2019.
Diana Bonilla
Diana Bonilla earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a minor in math and art history at New York University in May 2008. She obtained a Master of Science in school counseling at New York Institute of Technology in May 2013.
Ms. Bonilla worked as a guidance counselor at Walt Whitman High School from September 2014 to January 2015. She was a guidance counselor at Samantha Smith School-PS 182Q in Jamaica from November 2013 to June 2014.
District officials reviewed 33 applications, pre-screened 15 candidates and conducted six extensive personal interviews prior to recommending Ms. Bonilla for appointment.
Denise Caiazzo
Denise Caiazzo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in liberal studies from Dowling College, graduating in January 1993. She obtained a Master of Science in school counseling at Long Island University-C.W. Post in January 2010.
Ms. Caiazzo has worked as a leave replacement counselor in the Longwood (September-November 2009), Brentwood (March-June 2010), Amityville (August 2011-June 2012) and Port Washington (August 2012-June 2015) school districts.
District officials reviewed 56 applications, pre-screened 20 candidates and conducted 12 extensive personal interviews prior to recommending Ms. Caiazzo for appointment.
