You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown at Finley this Weekend

The J. Taylor Finley Middle School drama club will present the musical comedy You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown on Friday and Saturday (May 1-2) at 7:30 p.m. in the LGI-auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door.

The cast and crew have been working with drama club advisor Helen Murdock-Prep and stage technician Matthew Harris to perfect the show. Special sets and props have been created to enhance the production. The show includes seventh and eighth graders.

The show is based on characters created by famed cartoonist Charles M. Schultz for his comic strip, Peanuts. The musical comedy’s lyrics are by Clark Gesner. The show is said to be a perfect fit for the intimate Finley auditorium due to its small cast and simple staging.

“The Finley play has always been a favorite of mine,” Principal John Amato said. “The students on stage and behind the scenes enjoy every bit of the rehearsing, preparing and finally the presentation to the parents, students and staff. The skills they hone in the drama production in middle school can lead to careers in this field. After all, we live 50 miles from the theatre capital of the world.”

This weekend’s theater-goers can order ‘Theater Grams’ and send a note of appreciation to their favorite cast member. Those interested should visit the Theater Gram table in the main lobby’s Blue Zone.

Tickets are priced at $4 for adults and $2 for students. Children under five and faculty and staff members will be admitted for free. Call the Finley main office at 673-2020 for more information.
