H-ton Boys’ Basketball Resumes Winning Ways

The Huntington boys’ basketball team rebounded from a sluggish performance one day earlier to rally for a come-from-behind victory over Cold Spring Harbor, 61-54.

The Blue Devils trailed for much of the game before the shots started falling in the fourth quarter. Huntington’s offense was led by Kenny McCarthy, who finished with 22 points. Kenny Charles had 20 points, including a crucial late game basket that put the contest out of reach for the Seahawks. Andrew Hampton (11 points), Shyheim Brewster (seven points) and Scott Gulizio (one point) contributed to the scoring spree.

“While it wasn’t pretty at times, we are happy to take the win,” Huntington head coach Brian Carey said. “We have plenty to work on.”

The victory improved the Blue Devils’ mark to 5-1 this season. Huntington will resume game play when it hosts Suffolk League IV foe Deer Park on January 6 at 5:45 p.m.
