Huntington Football Schedule
is Challenging

The Huntington High School football team faces a challenging schedule this fall. The Blue Devils are coming off a county championship season in 2013. Suffolk Division III coaches have seeded Big Blue second among the 13 teams in the league, setting the stage for a string of tough games.

Section XI has posted varsity schedules on its website (www.sectionxi.org). The Huntington Blue Devils will kick-off the 2014 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 6 against Islip at 2 p.m. The game will be played at Bay Shore High School since Islip’s field is undergoing reconstruction.

The regular season will consist of eight games, split equally between home and away contests:

• Saturday, Sept. 6 Huntington vs. Islip at Bay Shore 2 p.m.

• Saturday, Sept. 13 Huntington at Hauppauge 5:30 p.m.

• Saturday, Sept. 20 Miller Place at Huntington 2 p.m.

• Thursday, Oct. 2 Amityville at Huntington 4 p.m.

• Saturday, Oct. 11 Rocky Point at Huntington 2 p.m.

• Saturday, Oct. 18 Huntington at Sayville 2 p.m.

• Friday, Oct. 24 Huntington at Eastport-South Manor 6 p.m.

• Saturday, Nov. 1 Westhampton Beach at Huntington 1:30 p.m.

The Blue Devils’ game against rugged Miller Place on September 20 at 2 p.m. will be the centerpiece of Huntington High School’s Homecoming Day activities. It will include the crowning of the Homecoming king and queen during half-time festivities, which will also feature performances by the Blue Devil marching band and Highsteppers dance team.

A noontime parade through Huntington village will precede the Homecoming Day football game. An evening dance for students is planned for Thursday, September 18. Parade floats will be constructed at the school on Friday night, September 19.
