Blaine Weisman Appointed
Math-Science Chair

Blaine Weisman has been named the Huntington School District’s chairperson of mathematics and science, 7-12. Huntington School Board members approved the appointment in a 6-0 vote during a public meeting this past Tuesday night in the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School auditorium.

Mr. Weisman obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting at Hofstra University in 1992. He earned a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies in math and science education at Stony Brook University in 1998 and went on to obtain a professional diploma in administration at the College of New Rochelle in 2003.

Prior to coming to Huntington, Mr. Weisman worked as a certified public accountant at BDO Siedman, as a financial analyst at Citicorp, as a recitation calculus instructor at Stony Brook University, a summer school math teacher in Westbury, as a middle school and high school math teacher in Hewlett-Woodmere and as a math teacher at Islip High School since September 1998.

Mr. Weisman holds permanent teaching certificates in Earth science and general science, 7-12, mathematics, 7-12, business and distributive education and school district administrator.

District officials reviewed 62 applications, pre-screened 10 candidates and conducted four interviews prior to recommending Mr. Weisman for appointment. He will be eligible for tenure on July 1, 2017.
