Flower Hill's Pasta & Curriculum Night
A crowd of about 300 turned out for Flower Hill Primary School's annual pasta and curriculum night. Folks of all ages dined on a tasty Italian dinner donated by Mr. Sausage before heading off on a tour of the building and a review of some projects and other work completed by students.
Teachers and staff served the food. The event drew a high percentage of Flower Hill's families. Proceeds from the evening will support a variety of PTA related activities. "A big thank you to all those who attended and to the PTA for organizing a wonderful event," teacher Glen Edwards said.
After finishing up the hot meal, families headed off for a spin around the school's hallways to view thematic displays created by each class representing a snapshot of the quality of work the students produced during the year.
Kindergarteners studied Eric Carle. First graders followed the adventures of Flat Stanley. Second graders learned about habitats. Third graders observed the life cycle of animals. Fourth graders examined New York and American history.
The night saw Flower Hill students participating in a scavenger hunt to gather information about each grade level theme. The youngsters in attendance were eager to show their families their displays and their parents were pleased with the variety of work that was exhibited.
"It was an enjoyable evening for everyone," Mr. Edwards said.
