Huntington Artists Showcased in
APE Gallery

Four Huntington High School fine arts students had their work showcased at the Art League of Long Island's sixth annual GO APE gallery in Dix Hills. The teenagers participated in a recent two-hour Sunday afternoon reception, mingling with fellow artists and art lovers.

Zach Burden, Nicole Giambrone, Molly Prep and Scout Ziegler were selected to showcase their work at this year's exhibit, which included art created by 114 Advanced Placement students from 34 Long Island high schools.

Huntington High School photography teacher Pamela Piffard chose the four participants. The teenagers enjoyed meeting with fellow artists from Nassau and Suffolk high schools during the recent reception. "It was great to speak to people with similar passions and to see the stunning and creative works they produced," Ms. Prep said.

The digital photography of Mr. Burden, Ms. Prep and Ms. Ziegler was displayed along with Ms. Giambrone's mixed media (photo and watercolor) portrait. As the proud teacher that she is, Ms. Piffard beamed at the exhibit's reception and was happy to pose for photos near each of her students' works.

This year's GO APE gallery featured student art of all mediums, including painting, sketching, photography, multimedia and even several sculptures. The artists reveled in the attention they received at the exhibit's reception. "It was certainly a wonderful experience," Ms. Prep said.
