Washington School Recognizes Top June Students

In the final hours of the school year, Washington Primary School paid tribute to its top June students. The name of each youngster was announced over the public address system and they marched down to the main lobby to the cheers of their classmates, who lined the hallways outside of their respective classrooms.
The honorees included Sadie Welch, Daniel Flores, Angela Sanchez, Salvatore Barone, Jocelyn Perdomo Giudiel, Juan Euceda, Emily Veliz, Kayleigh Bender, Steven Jimenez, Logan Wilson, Christian Panameno-Delcid, Samuel James, Mia Rosof-Mallory, Lorenzo Aloe, Leda Roldan, Jaiden Sanders, Kaylee Gomez-Hernandez, Daniel Granados, Jackson Kanzer, Ethan McGuinness and Martin Maxim. The classes of teachers Peri Alfano, Vivian Joseph, Diane Regan and Susan Turner were also recognized.
Each of the honorees was given a certificate and the group posed for a commemorative photo. This marks the close of the third year of the Washington Ways student recognition program. Red tickets are presented to individuals for notable good behavior outside of classrooms, including hallways, buses, the playground and cafeteria, etc. At the end of the month, the student in each class with the greatest number of red tickets is recognized with a special certificate.
White tickets are awarded weekly for good behaviors and actions in the classroom. White ticket winners are honored with special recognition in their classroom at the end of each week and their names are announced every Monday morning.
Entire classes can earn blue tickets for positive group behavior out-of-the-classroom. Blue tickets are also awarded to the two classes within the building with the most tickets overall.
"We enjoyed another great year at Washington," Principal Martha Neville said. "Our top students were delighted to be recognized and honored each month. We hope everyone has a wonderful summer and returns to school in September ready to learn!"
