Parents & Athletes Invited to Forum on Sports Concussions

Parents and student-athletes are invited to a free informative forum on sports concussions that is being sponsored by the Huntington School District's athletic department and PTA Council.

The presentation will be held at Huntington High School on Monday, September 24 at 7 p.m. The evening will be led by Drs. David Weissberg and Max Rudansky. No registration is required. Attendance by the Huntington school community is encouraged.

The forum's topics will include the causes of a concussion, prevention tips, symptoms, signs and tests, treatments and prognosis and possible complications.

A 1972 Huntington High School graduate, Dr. Weissberg is a Board-certified orthopedic surgeon with over 25 years professional experience. He is the medical director of the Concussion and Sports Related Head Injury Center. He has been trained and certified in the use of ImPACT neuro-cognitive assessments and treatment protocols.

Dr. Rudansky is the chief of the neurology section of Huntington Hospital, where he also serves as director of the stroke unit. He is co-director of the traumatic brain injury unit at St. Johnland Nursing Center and a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and Diplomate in neuropsychiatry and behavioral neurology.
