Flower Hill's Star Students Saluted
Flower Hill School is a neat place for students to learn. It's always been a place where youngsters feel right at home and where parents stand four-square behind the efforts of teachers and support staff members.
Principal Marlon Small enjoys his daily interactions with the more than 400 students ranging from kindergarten through fourth grade that fill Flower Hill's classrooms. The youngsters never fail to surprise and amaze the school's educational leader and he loves to encourage each of them to reach for the stars.
Flower Hill likes to recognize particularly fine efforts so one student from each class is singled out monthly in a special way. Every youngster in the school wants to earn a Star student award. Who can blame them? Honorees are made to feel like kings and queens for a day.
Few things in this world can compare to watching a youngster walk on air after being cited for a job well done. The monthly Star student ceremony is an opportunity to motivate every student in the school to work hard. The names of the award winners are read over the school's public address system and they are given attractive certificates. The group gathers together in the cafeteria for a commemorative photo, which is displayed on a bulletin board in the lobby.
December's honorees included Lars Galvin, Adriana Abbatiello, Juliana Dentico, Mayra Aguilar, Ben Weissman, Dylan Dougal, James McCormick, McKenzie Walleshauser, Melvin Pereira-Uribe, Charlie Girimonti, Jake Burton, Noa Kimmelman, Hannah Roberts, Theadora Carnesi, Charlotte Maggio, Jordan Forte, Jeffrey Ochoa-Alvarez, Christopher Segreti, Muhsin Muslim, Ryan Baker, Robert Jean-Gilles, Charlie O'Rourke, Kevin Aparicio and Isabella Dentico.
"We extend our warmest congratulations to these exceptional students and their parents," Mr. Small said. "It is always a job to recognize youngsters who are doing so well in school."
