Ingenious Projects at
Washington Science Fair

This year's science fair at Washington Primary School featured both practical and "feel good" elements. Students learned about the scientific method and conducting research while experiencing a sense of accomplish over their finished projects.
It was easy to feel good seeing the extent of hard work, effort and ingenuity put into the dozens of individual and class projects on display in the school gym. "The projects were great," Principal Marsha Neville said. "It's enjoyable seeing what our students on all grade levels can achieve when they work hard."
Every class in the building developed a project along with many individual students. The results were impressive. Visitors noted how thorough the projects were and the attractiveness of each presentation.
The research covered a wide range of subjects including how the amount of air in tires affects bike speed, which magnet can pick up the most paper clips, the most productive basketball shooting positions, pet shampoos, cat foods, insulated cups, germs on bread, how shape affects the melting of ice and dozens of other topics.
Every class in the school visited the fair during the day. Parents and family members turned out at night for an hour-long display. "It was a fun experience for everyone" Mrs. Neville said.
