Trustees Approve Retirement Requests

The Huntington School Board accepted 21 requests to retire from employees representing hundreds of years of experience. Trustees took the action during their public meeting this past Monday night.

Paul Rispoli, district director of facilities, is among the group. He will retire at the close of business on July 31 after a long career that saw him rise through the ranks in the buildings and grounds department.

Teachers Charles Williams (English, J. Taylor Finley Middle School), Joseph Altavilla (science, Huntington High School), Anna Schiliro (special education, high school), Doris Quintilian (math, Huntington High School), Joanne Holsclaw (classroom, Woodhull School), Linda Cirillo (classroom, Flower Hill School), Tonia Young (classroom, Southdown School), Susan Terry-Bazer (classroom, Jefferson School), Ruth Youngquist (classroom, Jefferson School), Frances Zapata-Poy (dual language classroom, Southdown School) and Leonard Mendola (psychologist, Woodhull School) are also retiring.

Teacher aides Gail Solimeno (special education, Huntington High School), Clare Mobley (Flower Hill School), JoAnn Hergenhan (Huntington High School), Cathy Lentinello (Jefferson School) and Ann Jedrowski (Flower Hill School), food service worker Frances Bravo (Huntington High School), study hall and hallway assistant Rebecca Robey (Huntington High School) and buildings and grounds workers Carlos Claudio and Allen Hendrickson were also approved to retire.
