District 34 Baseball Champs Have Woodhull Connection

When the Huntington Tri-Village A&E 11 year old team won the New York State District 34 Little League crown, it was with a strong assist from six Woodhull School students who really are the "Boys of Summer."

The squad defeated the Tri-Village National team, 9-7 to win the district title. It was a magical moment for both players and their parents. Can the team make it all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport? Who knows, but this group is sure to give it their all.

The Tri-Village A&E team includes Tyler Gerbavsits, who just completed fifth grade and recent Woodhull sixth grade graduates Michael Harris, Thomas Stock, Steven Napurano, Brian Donnelly and Anthony Emmanuele.

In addition to the "Woodhull Six," the team roster features Justin Antolin, Daniel Borysowski, Matthew DeMeo, Tyler Epakchi, James Mayer, Jack Peluso, Adam South and Colin Stengl. The players are from South Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor and Lloyd Harbor. Guiding the team are coaches Mike Stock, Michael Donnelly and Ron South.

District 34 is comprised of 16 Western Suffolk County Little League organizations. Playing in the Williamsport Tournament is typically the highlight of the season.

The Tri-Village A&E 11 year olds will now advance to the Little League Section 6 tournament. The team hopes to keep winning and qualify for the state tournament and then the Eastern regional and eventually the World Series in Williamsport.

As former New York Mets pitching great Tug McGraw said: "Ya gotta believe." The "Woodhull 6" and their teammates definitely do.
