Trustees Approve Personnel Moves
Huntington School Board members approved numerous personnel related changes at their meeting this past Monday night. Trustees granted leaves of absence to teachers Jennifer Stuccio (Washington/special education: Jan. 31 – June 24), Bernadette Walsh (Huntington High School/guidance counselor: Dec. 6 – Dec. 15), Blake Woodworth (Flower Hill/speech therapist: Jan. 31 – June 24), Kelly Trites (Huntington High School/special education: Jan. 31 – June 24) and Heather Flaherty (Woodhull/classroom: Jan. 4 – Feb. 8).
Nine long-term substitute teachers/leave replacements were appointed, including Kristen Henniger (Finley/special education: Nov. 16 – approximately Jan. 28), Timothy Pillion (Southdown/classroom: Nov. 16 – approximately Jan. 28), Thomas Graziano (Huntington High School/social studies: Nov. 16 – approximately Jan. 28), Venessa Nilsen (Jefferson/special education: Nov. 16 – approximately March 1), Jessica Reichenbach (Woodhull/music: Dec. 1 – approximately Jan. 31), Kathryn Sequino (Flower Hill/speech therapist: Jan. 31 – June 30), Stephanie Fazio (Huntington High School special education: Jan. 31 – June 30), Melissa Goldsborough (Washington/special education: Jan. 31 – June 30) and Laura Lipow (Woodhull/classroom: Jan. 4 – Feb. 8).
Trustees accepted the resignation of senior account clerk Frann Weinstein. She has accepted a position in another district. Part-time three-hour per day appointments were approved for Jillian Zingale (Washington, teacher aide) and Lisa DeCicco (Jefferson, monitor).
Timothy Dolan has been appointed the J. Taylor Finley Middle School drama club advisor. He will earn a stipend of $3,763. Meredith Wipfler has been hired to replace departing Highstepper assistant coach Kristen Margraf. Ms. Wipfler will earn $2,221 for the remainder of the school year.
Trustees also took the following actions:
- Appointed Saturday Academy program faculty and staff, including teachers Angela Berner, Luz Marotta, Donna O'Shaughnessy, Nancy Giorgos, Glenn Edwards, Peristera Alfano, Vivian Joseph, Erika Sabogal and Debra Collins and teacher aides Caroline Rivas and Miryam Palacio. The teachers will be paid $48.97 per hour. The aides will earn $19.13 per hour. The group will work up to two hours per week. The stipends are funded through a Title III grant.
- Authorized Jessalyn Christen, Richard Liebowitz, Martha Garland and Elizabeth Caserta to work as piano accompanists during the 2010/11 school year. They will be paid $24 per hour when they work.
- Approved changes in assignment for custodians Daniel Pacheco and Lius Neris, effective Nov. 16.
- Approved instructors for the adult education program, including Lorena Diaz, Martha Diaz, Edward Enyart, Richard Gress, Kelly Hatzmann, Bud Levy, Robert Mallon, Kieran Mock, Johnnie Morales, Olena Kropp, Edna Parker, Michael Posner, Robert Previto, Anna Naccarato, Carmela Stone Klein, Kerri Titone, Jane Voorhees, Ellen Winter and Richard Wos. They will be compensated at the rate of $25 per hour. Appointed Christopher Hender to serve as the central treasurer for Woodhull Intermediate School. He will be paid a stipend of $514.
- Authorized Carol Kinane to work as a mentor in the new teacher mentoring program, which is funded through a Title IIA grant. She will be paid a stipend of $375.
- Appointed Gail Mahoney the program administrator for the McKinney –Vento homeless grant. She will be paid $50 per hour. Appointed Alexandra Cope and Deborah Winans as tutors in the program. They will each earn $48.97 per hour.
- Brooke Bene-Mullee, Jessica Reichenbach and David Tomlet were added to the district's substitute teacher list. They will be paid $90 per diem when they work.
- Kevin Zaharios was authorized to work as a substitute security guard. He will be paid $11.45 per hour when he works.
- Meredith Carduner, Rhonda Ohr and Janet Rivas were added to the district's substitute food service worker list. They will be paid $9 per hour when they are needed to cover an employee absence.
- Marie Nardelli and Joann Whitcher were approved to work as substitute teacher aides. They will be paid $9 per hour when they work. Ms. Whitcher was also added to the district's substitute clerical worker list. She will be paid $10.50 per hour when she covers for an absent clerical employee.
- Julio Colon was added to the district's substitute custodian list. He will be paid $10.50 per hour when he works.
