Huntington Music Idol Champs Crowned
An enthusiastic crowd of more than 400 turned out to watch this year’s Huntington Music Idol finals. The fun night saw fans treated to fine performances by students and teachers.
The high school division was won by Kristina Casale and Finley student Kristen Berner captured the middle school category. John Ferraiolo, a high school student, was named “best entertainer.”
“The show was so much fun for the singers and the audience,” said Huntington music teacher Lisa Leonardi who coordinated the event for the second consecutive year. There were also plenty of giveaways, courtesy of sponsors Atlantis Marine World, WBLI, Cactus Salon and I DJ Now.
“The teachers and the finalists sang extremely well,” Ms. Leonardi said. Faculty performers included Nicole Parrett, Paul Esposito, Peter Crugnale and Veronica Escamilla. “Ms. Escamilla brought the house down when she sang ‘We Are the Champions,’” added Ms. Leonardi.
Planning is already underway for next year’s competition and Ms. Leonardi is working to secure Friday night dates for the semi-final and final rounds “so we can have an even bigger audience,” she said.
Ms. Leonardi recommends that teachers who would like to sing on the final show next year let her know as soon as possible, “as there may be a waiting list,” she said.
