Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr. on Stage at Finley this Weekend

After weeks of ironing out as many wrinkles as possible, the rehearsals are finally complete. The curtain goes up for Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr. this Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in the J. Taylor Finley Middle School auditorium. Tickets are priced at $6.
“The show is about Millie Dillmount, a young girl from Kansas that comes to New York with dreams of marrying into money,” said director Susan Hahn, who is being assisted by Ayallah Jeddah. “Right from the start, things are rocky. She gets mugged and is helped by a passerby. Millie’s adventures continue as she moves into the Hotel Priscilla and meets a whole group of girls that try to help her make it in the big city. The story is about discovering true love against all odds.”
The cast includes Katherine Gerdes in the lead role as well as James Vicari, Stephanie Shea, Hillary Hardardt, Chelsea Holmes, Donovan Richardson, Kaitlin Dayton, Nick Arleo, Elizabeth Corrao, Alexandra Caffrey, Olivia Palmer, Hailey Giordano and Kayla Eidle.
The ensemble consists of Sam Carroll, Alanna Cribbin, Darya DeSimone, Jasmine Fernandez, Katerra Griffin, Isabelle Harman, Patrick Lombardi, Maddie LoFaso, Briana Lora, Alexandra Mandriotta, Hanna Murphy and Jessica Tucker.
“Rehearsals have been going pretty well,” Ms. Hahn said. “In our last week of preparations, we’re just working out some technical aspects and getting ready for the big weekend. We are also going to be doing preview performances for Jack Abrams School on Thursday and Finley students and staff on Friday. This is a win-win to expose the students to the hard work the cast and crew have been doing and to give us some experience performing for the crowd before the big day.”
Matt Harris is the production’s technical director and Linda Astefanous is the art director. Visit the official show website at http://web.mac.com/susan.hahn for more information.
