Retired English Teacher Passes Away

Betty C. Champney, who taught English at Huntington High School for 18 years, recently passed away at her Huntington home. She was 91 years old.

Mrs. Champney, who was an active supporter of the American Field Service student exchange program, began her career in Huntington in September 1965 and retired when the school year ended in June 1983. She graduated from Kent State University in June 1941 with a BA in education and in August 1945 with an MA in English.

Following the death of her first husband, William Brooks Champney in 1986, the former Huntington faculty member married John Driver, who passed away in 2000.

A memorial service was held last Saturday at the Huntington United Methodist Church on West Neck Road.
