Fox Places Eighth in Flo Nationals
Huntington High School wrestler Ryan Fox finished in eighth place at 171 lbs. in the Flo Nationals in Ohio. Teammate Louis Puca also competed but narrowly failed to place at 160 lbs.
Fox, a Blue Devil senior who captured second place in the Section XI championships this winter finished the regular scholastic season with a 37-2 mark. At the Flo Nationals he dropped his opening match to Pennsylvania senior Ty Wilps, who went on to take first place in the weight class.
Fox then topped Ohio sophomore Brandon O’Neil and Ohio senior Todd Gaydosh before losing to Iowa junior Travis Mallo. The Huntington wrestler forfeited the seventh place match to Michigan senior Ryan Olep.
Puca is coming off an exceptional season that saw him compile a 37-5 record en route to a second place finish in the state tournament. At the Flo Nationals, he moved past Michigan sophomore Shawn Scott before losing 7-6 to eventual national runner-up Damien Perry, an Ohio senior and then dropping another match to eventual seventh place finisher Tony Martin, an Ohio junior.
