Huntington School Board Notes
Huntington School Board members approved numerous personnel related items during a public meeting this past Monday night in the Jack Abrams School auditorium.
Joyce Keegan, assistant to Huntington School District Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Management Services David H. Grackin, is retiring, effective February 6, 2011.
Trustees accepted the resignations of J. Taylor Finley Middle School food service worker Carmela Cipriano and Flower Hill School TA Karen Beirne for respective personal reasons.
Jessica Stanzione was appointed to work as a teaching assistant at Huntington High School. Her probationary period will run through October 26, 2013. Vanessa Nilsen was appointed to work at a special education aide at Jefferson School.
Donna Novello (Washington/classroom) and Kelli Ann Connors (Woodhull/special education) were approved to work as long-term substitute teachers.
Trustees also took the following actions:
- Appointed Huntington High School student Joseph Tizzio as a lab assistant. He will be paid $7.25 per hour.
- Approved a consultant services contract with Weizhen Yu, Ph.D. to perform student evaluations at various rates based upon the respective service provided.
- Approved Keith Meyers as the elementary audio-visual coordinator. He will be paid a stipend of $1,982.
- Approved a consultant services contract with Clayton R. Cook, Ph.D. of Seattle, Washington to provide workshops. He will be paid $2,000 per day plus expenses.
- Appointed Carrie Postel and Eric Triolo as intramural advisors at Woodhull Intermediate School during the fall and spring semesters. They will each be paid $1,589 per semester.
- Approved a consultant services contract with Diana Browning Wright, Inc. of Sierra Madre, California to provide workshops. She will be paid $3,600 per day plus expenses.
- Appointed Karen Behrman as the central treasurer at Woodhull Intermediate School. She will be paid a stipend of $514.
- Approved a consultant services contract with Joann Kavanagh of East Islip, New York to provide professional development workshops. She will be paid $100 per hour.
- Authorized John Walsh to provide up to 12 hours of CPR/AED/First Aid classes during the 2010/11 school year.
- Approved a consultant services contract with Carol Kosnitsky of Penacook, New Hampshire to provide professional development workshops. She will be paid $2,000 per day, plus travel expenses.
- Approved a special education services contract with the Glen Cove City School District for the education of a Huntington School District school age resident being educated there.
- Approved a consultant services contract with Jenn Maichin Consulting, Inc. of Huntington, New York to provide professional development workshops. The company will be paid a rate of $100 per hour.
- Authorized two budget transfers totaling $2,000 from two accounts to another to cover the costs associated with special education teacher resources and postage at Huntington High School.
