Huntington School Board Makes Personnel Moves

 

Numerous personnel moves were approved by Huntington School Board members at their public meeting this past Monday night at Jack Abrams Intermediate School.

 

Julie Wright was authorized to work as a long-term substitute art teacher at Huntington High School, effective Oct. 1. The appointment will continue for an indefinite period Trustees also approved high school security guard Cable Todd Jamison to return from a leave of absence and gave Kristin Warren a part-time appointment as a three-hour monitor at Washington Primary School. She will earn $11.67 per hour.

 

Trustees also took the following actions:

 

• Approved Patricia Quinn to work as an instructor in the driver education program during the 2009/10 school year. She will be paid $44.92 per hour.

• Approved additional work for nurses Marlene McKenna and Catherine Adamcewicz related to athletic physicals and re-qualifications.

• Authorized study hall and hallway assistants Carol Dow and Regina Connors to supervise afternoon detention at J. Taylor Finley Middle School. They will be paid $30.47 per hour.

• Approved Linda Kohan to provide special education teacher TIERS training on three dates. She will be paid $388.35 per day. A special education grant will cover the cost of the training.

• Authorized Finley teachers Matthew Perlongo, Michael Gavilan, Brian Reynolds and Travis Smith to work as cafeteria supervisors during the 2009/10 school year. They will be paid $28.73 per hour.

• Approved salary schedule changes for 39 teachers, including Gene Acevedo, Jessie Brennan, Vincenza Caruso, Carol Coffey, Mary M. deBruin, Theresa Duffy, Carol Emmerman, Brian Foster, Wendy Gallo, Jason Giachetti, Suzanne Giuliani-Gimpel, Claudia Gonzalez-Butler, James Graber, Helen Guarino, Susan Hahn, Arlette Hall-Connolly, Casey Horowitz, Kathryn Joseph, Terrance Judson, Deborah Kim, Krista Kozlosky, Kenneth Krummenacher, Melissa Lang, Rosita Lanoue, Colleen Lanigan-Simko, Brendan McGowan, Luz Marotta, Matthew Perlongo, Jennifer Poach, Patricia Quinn, Marybeth Robinette, Christyn Roseto, Allison Russo, Christopher Scarnato, Thomas Tantillo, Esmerelda Tello, Kristin Thatcher, Renee Troffa and Maureen Yostpile, who have completed additional graduate studies.

• Adjusted the probationary period of teacher Jennifer Glatzer as a result of a leave of absence. The period of probation will now run through Feb. 10, 2011 instead of Dec. 9, 2010.

• Approved an agreement with the Summit School in Jamaica Estates, NY for services related to the education of children with handicapping conditions. The annual tuition charge will be $28,906 for each student serviced. The agreement will terminate on June 30, 2010.

• Retained Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. for an amount not to exceed $22,500 to advise the district on developing long-term strategies for addressing its space requirements.

• Approved a bid award for the disposal of surplus equipment and textbooks in the amount of $59.95 to Mid-Island Salvage Corp. “I would also recommend that the textbooks listed in this bid be disposed of in the most environmentally responsible way,” Assistant Superintendent David H. Grackin said.

• Authorized mileage reimbursement for Latin teacher Robert Curtain for his travel between Finley Middle School and Huntington High School.

• Approved the appointment of Craig Tessler to serve as an impartial hearing officer at a hearing requested by the parents of a special education student.

• Approved changes in the daily hours worked of teacher aides Vernay Harrison, Paula Blackwell, Juanita Turner and Linda Uliano.

• Approved Mary Agramonte, Samuel Austin, Douglas Brussell, Akira Byng, Donna Hall, Jamie Hall, Jessica Kennaugh, Jessica Lang, Jacqueline Lennon, Jason Miller, Rosa Maria Napoli, Catherine Renz, Stephanie Rubin, Savannah Puca, Dore Schreibman, Joann Whitcher, Steven Widerman, Elyse Zois and Julie Wright to work as substitute teachers when a regular faculty member is absent. Substitutes earn $90 per day.

• Authorized the addition of teacher aides Andrea Myssiorek, Peggie Primm and Lorraine Corbly, security guard Christopher Bamfo, clerical worker Lucyann DeChiaro and food service worker Lisa Haas to the list of approved substitute employees.

• Approved Christopher Scarnato and Ayallah Jeddah as Finley stage crew advisors.

• Appointed Kristin Singer and Kasmira Mohanty as the Huntington High School art honor society advisors.
