Lonnie K. Seide, a 1977 graduate of Huntington High School, is a partner in the legal firm of Minyard Morris, LLP, with offices in Newport Beach, CA. He specializes in family law and has served as a judge pro tem for the Orange County Superior Court. He has authored numerous legal articles for various journals and lectured extensively.
Following his graduation from Huntington High School, Mr. Seide earned a B.S. degree with honors at Northeastern University in 1982 and obtained a law degree at St. John’s University in 1985. He has been admitted to the Massachusetts Bar (1985), the New York Bar (1986), the U.S. Tax Court (1989), the U.S. District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York (1990), the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit (1990), the U.S. Supreme Court (1991) and the California Bar (1992). He is a “certified specialist” in family law as decreed by the State Bar of California’s Board of Legal Specialization.
Mr. Seide and his wife, Cindy are residents of Irvine, CA. The couple has two children.
Huntington Alum is Sr. VP
Geoffrey A. Wheeler, a 1969 graduate of Huntington High School, is a senior vice-president of Ricondo & Associates, Inc., a full service aviation consulting firm, that’s headquartered in Chicago with offices throughout the continental United States, Hawaii and the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Wheeler works from the Cincinnati, OH office.
Following his graduation from Huntington High School, Mr. Wheeler earned B.S. degree in business and economics at Lehigh University in 1973. Prior to joining Ricondo & Associates in January 1996, Mr. Wheeler worked as a project manager at Parsons Brinckerhoff and Aviation Planning Associates and was director of properties at Piedmont Airlines.
According to the company website, Ricondo & Associates provides “technical consulting and project management services relating to airport facilities planning, airport master planning, financial analyses, environmental planning, feasibility studies, airfield and airspace analyses, strategic planning, and airport development programs, either on a project basis or as part of on-call consulting services.”
Mr. Wheeler and his wife, Julie are residents of Villa Hills, Kentucky. The couple has one son.
Brown Graduates from Holy Cross
Paige Brown, a 2005 graduate of Huntington High School, was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics at The College of the Holy Cross this past spring. In high school she was a member of a variety of clubs and sports teams, winning Blue Devil varsity letters all four years.
Lafferty Earns Law Degree
Kerry Lafferty, a 1990 graduate of Huntington High School, has been awarded a law degree by Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco. She also earned certificates of specialization in labor and employment law and public interest law and was consistently on the Dean’s List. Ms. Lafferty was honored with the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in employment law, appellate advocacy and legal writing and research.
Daniti is in the U.S. Navy
Karl Daniti, a 2003 graduate of Huntington High School, is serving in the U.S. Navy. Earlier this year he completed eight weeks of basic training at the Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois.
In addition to grueling physical fitness activities during boot camp, the Huntington alum participated in classroom study and hands-on instruction in naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety.
Huntington Grad is a Lawyer
Susan Sard graduated with Huntington High School’s Class of 1977. She went on to obtain a BA degree in political science, magna cum laude from Brown University in 1981. She then earned a JD at Northeastern University School of Law in 1985.
Now known as Susan Sard White, the Huntington alum is an associate with the law firm of Dunning, Kirrane, McNichols & Garner, LLP in Mashpee, Massachusetts. She was a law clerk to Chief Judge Shane Devine at the U.S. District Court in New Hampshire from 1987 to 1995. She moved with her family to Cape Cod in 1995. She was a staff attorney with the South Coastal Counties Legal Services from 1998 to 2007.
While at Huntington High School, Mrs. Sard White was a National Merit Scholar, Regents Scholarship recipient and member of the National Honor Society. She was presented with an Alumni Cup at the senior awards assembly in the high school auditorium on June 9, 1977.
The Huntington alum now resides in West Yarmouth, MA with her husband and three children. She has been active in her children’s schools and on the board of directors of the Harwich Junior Theatre. She has performed in the local theatre and also volunteered there. Her law practice is centered on all aspects of domestic relations and family law.
Class of ’52 Member Passes Away
Margaret O’Prey Barbanell, a member of Huntington High School’s Class of 1952, passed away at age 74. She was retired from the Huntington Pennysaver and had been residing in the apartment/condo complex on Nathan Hale Drive in Huntington village.
Mrs. Barbanell’s husband, James, predeceased her. He was the legendary sports editor of The Long-Islander newspaper who had an encyclopedic knowledge of Long Island high school sports history. He later worked at Newsday for many years and was a true friend to the Blue Devil athletic program.
Mrs. Barbanell, who loved cats, met her future husband while both were working at The Long-Islander. She handled the placement of legal notices for the paper. She earlier worked as a telephone operator during the era when callers spoke with a live operator to place their calls.
The Huntington grad was interred in the Huntington Rural Cemetery.
Class of 1942 Loses One of its Own
Huntington High School’s Class of 1942 lost one of its own when Rose Marie (Conte) Annunziata passed away at age 85. She was a retired teacher aide/monitor who worked in the Cold Spring Harbor school district. She is survived by a son and daughter and four grandchildren. She was interred at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Huntington.
