Catching up with Chris Lau
Chris Lau had one of the most impressive runs of anyone at Huntington High School in recent years. The Class of 2009 valedictorian is now at the University of Pennsylvania and he’s already beginning to hit his stride there.
“Everything is going great so far,” Mr. Lau said during an interview last week. “I feel very comfortable with practically everything. I'm taking four classes this semester: Economics, Statistics, Management and a writing seminar on American film in the 1970s. All of my professors are very approachable and very intelligent.”
During his four years at Huntington High School Mr. Lau won numerous varsity athletic letters, was a member of many clubs, pursued a slate of outside interests and activities and earned stellar grades. He seems very well prepared to excel in college, too.
“The workload so far has not been too bad, but I expect that to change pretty quickly,” Mr. Lau said. “I've become very close with a number of people in my hall and have met a ton of interesting people from many diverse backgrounds. I've tried to join as many clubs as possible without jumping into too many at once.”
The grads UPenn club memberships include the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project, Habitat for Humanity, Sports Business Club, Wharton Finance Club and Wharton Business and Law. He’s also participating in the intramural sports program.
“Basically, everything is going really, really well,” he said.
