O’Brien Solid at Johns Hopkins
Leslie O’Brien, a 2008 graduate of Huntington High School, is off to a solid start in her sophomore season for the Johns Hopkins University soccer team. She picked up an assist in last Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Swarthmore. The goal itself came on a blast from the right wing and improved the team’s record to 7-2.
O’Brien scored the game winning goal two weeks ago in JHU’s conference opener against Washington College. She has played in nine games this fall, starting two. This past Saturday the Huntington alum launched a first half shot from the far left wing, which went sailed high. Forty seconds later she assisted on the game’s lone goal. In the second half she took a shot from the top of the box, but it went wide to the left.
As a freshman O’Brien played in all of the team’s 16 games, starting three. She scored the game winning goal in JHU’s first win ever over The College of New Jersey.
At Huntington, O’Brien was a three-time all-county soccer player, participated in the track program for four years and won all-league honors and even played lacrosse for two years. She was a member of the National Honor Society as well as the math and Italian honor societies. At JHU she is a public health major.

But, the Men in Blue never scored again as Eastport-South Manor (2-1) grabbed a 20-7 victory before a crowd of about 1,000 at Blue Devil Stadium.

Kerri-Ann Giambruno took two minutes of her time from a week earlier to claim a spot in the top ten. Samantha Martinez also saw a substantial improvement in her race time.
